Organizational Performance and Change from Colorado State Continuing Education

How to Apply

Before applying to the degree program, it is strongly recommended that you contact the program coordinator well in advance of the application deadline to understand and fulfill all requirements.

Minimum Admission Requirements

The Organizational Performance and Change (Ph.D.) degree requires applicants to have the following:

  • A master's degree in a related or supporting discipline.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA in master's degree coursework.
  • 10-15 years of advanced experience in a business related discipline.
  • GRE scores are not required.

Note that meeting the minimum department standards does not ensure admission to the program. Admission to Colorado State University graduate programs is based on a number of factors.

Before your application for graduate study is considered, all application materials must be received by the department.

Step 1 – Apply Online

  • Complete the online graduate application form and pay the $50 application fee (payable online with a major credit card).
    • Select "Educ & Hum Res Studies PhD/Orgnztl Prfrm & Change - Distance" when choosing the program of study.

Step 2 – Submit Application Materials

Gather all of the following materials and submit electronically through the School of Education Graduate Online Application.

  • Statement of Purpose
    Include in your statement:
    • Summary of long-term professional or personal goals.
    • Statement regarding your educational goals.
    • Statement indicating how this education will contribute to your long-term goals.
    • List of factors that led you to consider Colorado State for doctoral study.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
    Written by individuals in at least two of the following categories:
    • Previous or current college/university instructors.
    • Previous or current immediate professional supervisors.
    • Observers, other than supervisors, who can verify the specific impact of the your professional or intellectual expertise. Letters from friends, coworkers, relatives, or character witnesses will be considered only supplemental to the three required references.
  • Current Resume
    • Record of all collegiate work, including names of institutions, periods of attendance, and degrees earned.
    • Record of all professional employment including dates of service (including military).
    • List of any special skills or competencies, including certifications and licensures.
    • List of publications, exhibitions, prizes, awards, or other recognition.
    • List of service activities, including community and charitable.

Step 3 – Send Official Transcripts

Include one official transcript of all collegiate work (undergraduate and graduate) completed from every institution attended, whether or not you received a degree from those institutions. Transcripts from Colorado State University are not required.

Time frame

Coursework is completed in eight semesters followed by a dissertation which typically takes six months to one year to complete. Classes meet five Saturdays per semester.

Senior organizational leaders, executives, and leaders with at least 10-15 years of advanced experience within their chosen profession who seek to develop their consulting acumen, improve organizational effectiveness, enhance decision making skills, and improve analysis and research expertise.

What you will earn

You will earn the same regionally-accredited Colorado State University degree that a student on the Fort Collins campus is awarded. Your diploma and transcript are identical to those awarded to on-campus students.
