Statisticians are in high demand in all areas of industry, especially the high-tech, medical, and pharmaceutical sectors for functions such as quality control, market research, and product development. Through the Master of Science in Statistics program, you are prepared to successfully apply statistical theory and analysis to complex, real-world problems in these and other industries.

Through this program, you will master topics such as:

  • Probability
  • Linear models
  • Time series
  • Stochastic processes
  • Sampling
  • Bayesian methods

Requirements

You complete 34 semester credits, 21 of which must be completed after formal admission to Colorado State University. You may pursue one of three study plans: thesis, project, or exam. Curriculum

The course requirements for the master's degree in statistics are designed in three groups to cover the various topics necessary to acquire an in-depth understanding of statistics.

  • Group I – fundamental topics of probability, mathematical statistics, and statistical methodology
  • Group II – exposure to a range of areas in statistics
  • Group III – further specialization in a subject area of interest to you
