BUS 690A - Workshop: Emotional Intelligence and Values-Based Leadership

This course is offered over two days. Session facilitators include former senior executives, business owners, faculty members and consultants.

Session 1: "Emotional Intelligence and Its Influence on Leader Effectiveness"
Friday, March 4, 2011, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Overview: After taking an "EQ" assessment prior to this session, participants will learn the meaning of Emotional Intelligence and its effect on leadership and workplace relationships. The various dimensions of "EQ" will be investigated in terms of how each impacts the perception of others and how they contribute to higher performance for leaders.

Participants will receive an individual coaching after the March 4 session to provide real development and assists in the reinforcement of participant’s action commitments.

Session 2: "Values-Based Leadership, Strategy and Change"
Friday, April 1, 2011, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Overview: This session emphasizes the importance of the alignment of organization culture and values with leader values. A model of values based decisions related to organization strategy and change will be discussed in conjunction with the critical determinant of alignment. Methods to gain better results with organizational change efforts will be presented within the context of systemic approaches and accepted values.
