Thomas J. Dean serves as Professor of Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Enterprise at Colorado State University. Professor Dean teaches, studies, and consults in the areas of business strategy, entrepreneurship, and sustainable venturing. Having authored the first course, rigorous theoretical examination, and textbook on environmental and sustainable entrepreneurship, he is a pioneer in the field of entrepreneurship and sustainability. Professor Dean also helped build top-ranked sustainable enterprise and entrepreneurship programs at the University of Tennessee, University of Colorado, and Colorado State University. During his tenure at the University of Colorado, he served as Academic Director of the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship, and served as Chair of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management. In 2013 he received the Page Prize for Sustainability Issues in Business Curricula. He has published over sixty manuscripts including articles in the Academy of Management Journal, the Strategic Management Journal, and the Journal of Business Venturing. Professor Dean holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Management from Penn State University, an M.B.A. from Oklahoma State University, and a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Colorado.
