Certificate Overview

Advance your career as a human resources specialist or researcher with this three-course certificate program. The curriculum covers the core competencies needed to practice as an industrial/organizational psychologist or human resources professional, including:

  • An overview of methods for developing and validating new surveys and psychological measures
  • Strategies for evaluating existing surveys and measures
  • Methods for designing laboratory and field research studies
  • Techniques for statistical analysis of research data

The Psychological Measurement and Methodologies Certificate provides an overview of the methods used to measure psychological attributes and analyze quantitative data related to organizational interventions. It is designed for professionals in organizations who conduct research or evaluate the research of others.

This certificate is a companion to the Master of Applied Industrial/Organizational Psychology degree. The credits completed as part of this certificate can be applied toward the degree after formal admission per University transfer policies. However, successful completion of the courses or certificate does not guarantee admission to the degree program.

Prerequisites

You can register for individual certificate courses as long as you meet the prerequisites.

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or business is required.
  • Prior research experience or work in human resources is desirable, but not necessary.

Curriculum

To obtain the certificate, you must successfully complete three required courses for a total of 10-11 credits:

Admission to the University is not required to earn the Certificate of Completion in Psychological Measurement and Methodologies. You can register for any course in the certificate program as long as you meet the course prerequisites. Prior CSU coursework can be applied toward this certificate, though transfer courses are not accepted.
