Computer Information Systems Certificate
Certificate Overview
Advance your knowledge of computer information systems by learning the strategic role and management of technology and projects with this three-course series. You will discover how to determine the information needs of a company and the requirements for specific systems that support business processes and how to harness vast data stores. Learn to:
- Apply knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques for project management solutions that are relevant to any discipline.
- Balance competing project stakeholder requirements for quality, scope, time, cost, and personnel issues.
- Analyze project management issues and decision making.
- Apply the principles of Service Oriented Architecture and Software as a Service.
- Understand software development methodology and the impact on business as well as supporting activities.
- Evaluate and practice McCabe structured testing methodology.
- Harness vast data stores to solve problems and enhance decision making and discovery of new opportunities.
- Transform, analyze, mine, and view data for the purpose of deriving business value.
This certificate is a companion to the Master of Science in Business Administration - Computer Information Systems degree. The credits completed as part of this certificate can be applied toward the degree after formal admission per University transfer policies. However, successful completion of the courses or certificate does not guarantee admission to the degree program.

- CIS 600 – Information Technology and Project Management (3 cr.) (Fall)
OR
BUS 690C – Advanced Project Management and PMI Exam Preparation (3 cr.) (Spring) - CIS 610 – Software Development Methodology (3 cr.) (Fall)
- BUS 690C – Business Intelligence (3 cr.) (Summer)
Admission to the University is not required to earn the Certificate of Completion in Computer Information Systems. You can register for any course in the certificate program in any order as there are no prerequisites. Prior CSU coursework can be applied toward this certificate, though transfer courses are not accepted.
