Lorie SmithI'm originally from Nebraska, but have lived in Colorado since 1973 and consider it home. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Colorado with a double major in psychology and vocational rehabilitation. My first job out of college was working in Larimer County on a Department of Labor-funded program assisting welfare recipients and Vietnam veterans to return to work. I also spent a few years working at CSU in Sponsored Programs while I sampled graduate programs. I received my Master of Industrial/Organizational Psychology from CSU and started my own consulting firm specializing in training and organizational development. I also co-owned a data research business in Houston Texas for three years. Next, I spent almost 10 years at WaterPik Technologies in training and human resources before coming back to CSU in 2000 to head a fledgling faculty and staff professional development program focusing on leadership and supervisory skills.

I am currently the Director of Training and Organizational Development. I'm married, with two daughters; the youngest graduated from CSU in May of 2009. I am co-teaching Organizational Behavior in Student Affairs with Mari Strombom.
