Jack McGrewI was born and raised in Nebraska (Go Huskers!). I earned a B.A. in Biology at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. After teaching for one year, I spent four years in the U.S. Navy. I am a Vietnam War veteran.

After being discharged from the Navy, I earned a master's degree in Wildlife Biology at Utah State University. I came to Colorado State for a Ph.D. in Zoology, but after completing this degree, my wife and I decided we didn't want to leave Fort Collins. I taught for a year in the Department of Biology and worked in the Office of Admissions for an additional year before being hired as Assistant Dean in the College of Natural Sciences in 1986.

I advised Natural Sciences Open Option (undecided) students for three years, then served as Chief Health Professions Advisor for the University for over 10 years. I am the Scholarship Chair for the College and direct undergraduate recruitment and retention.

Throughout my career in the College, I have served as liaison to the Division of Students Affairs. I am the Faculty Director of the Ingersoll Residential College and currently co-teach the Higher Education Administration course in the SAHE curriculum.
