What is extension education?
The field of extension education (sometimes known as cooperative extension) is primarily focused on making university knowledge and resources available to the community via educational outreach. As a part of the overall land-grant university mission, extension education effectively creates a bridge between the university and the general public so knowledge can be shared for the benefit of all citizens.
What does an extension educator do?
Extension educators work with a variety of populations to extend access to university knowledge, research, and educational resources. These populations may include members of the community, businesses, industries, and schools. Extension educators frequently organize and deliver customized programs to address challenging situations in the community. This process may involve conducting fieldwork or surveys, organizing training workshops, and/or building a variety of online informational resources.

An extension agent is an official representative of a university extension office or program. These individuals may be called extension agents, extension educators, or extension officers.

Does the Master of Extension Education program help students start a career?
Because this program has an internship component, students who successfully complete the program will build a professional working relationship with a local extension office or similar organization. After successfully completing the internship, students can ask supervisors and/or colleagues to provide letters of recommendation or job references.

What fees should students expect to pay?
In addition to tuition, students will pay a $25 per semester technology fee. The cost of textbooks must also be covered by the student.
