Professor Wes Kenney
Professor Kenney is Director of Orchestras and teaches graduate conducting at Colorado State University. He jointly holds the position of music director and conductor of the Fort Collins Symphony and music director of Opera Fort Collins. Mr. Kenney is a frequent guest conductor, having appeared with such orchestras as the Buffalo Philharmonic, Alabama Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, and the Richmond Symphony. Mr. Kenney has presented clinics and classes for the University of Southern California, Bard College, the University of Alabama, the College of William and Mary, and San Francisco State University as well as Colorado Music Educators Association and American String Teachers Association. Mr. Kenney holds degrees from University of Southern California and San Francisco State University and has studied conducting in Vienna and throughout the United States. Mr. Kenney was named 2009 Outstanding Teacher by the Colorado chapter of the American String Teachers Association and in 2007 he won the first annual Varna International Conductors Competition held in Vidin, Bulgaria. His other prizes include the Carmen Dragon Conducting Prize and several American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers awards for adventuresome programming.
