This course covers basic strategies that women can employ to better support other women, while also exploring how and why women often fail to support other women. The course identify challenges that can arise while engaging in dialogue across differences, failures to listen to the experiences of women of color, and how internalized oppression undermines solidarity among women.
• Students will learn to: Identify common failures that prevent women from effectively supporting other women.
• Recognize how privilege, power, and internalized oppression hinder connections and solidarity among women.
• Relate skills, strategies, and concepts within feminist theory to practices for how to support other women.

Colorado Women LEAD is a noncredit, online program that educates and trains women, and any person who identifies as female or woman-bodied, on successful leadership skills, tactics, techniques, theories, practices, and aptitudes in order to prepare the women of Colorado and Colorado State University for new or higher level leadership roles and opportunities in the workforce and community to help drive the economic prosperity of the state and CSU.
This program enhances a woman’s leadership growth by helping the individual:
· Identify her leadership style and core strengths with a focus on how to use them as a leader
· Deepen self-awareness to understand that the work of leadership starts internally, and ripples out
· Analyze professional relationships to build support networks for personal visions and goals
· Find business solutions through improved self-development techniques
· Understand her ability to make powerful organizational change
· Explore the ROI of equity, inclusion, and diversity practices in the workplace
· Increase team leadership effectiveness
· Learn new skills in leading through change and the unexpected

Dr. Cori Wong earned a dual-title Ph.D. in Philosophy and Women’s Studies from the Pennsylvania State University after graduating summa cum laude with a B.A. in Philosophy from Colorado State University. With a passion for teaching, learning, and approaching education as a practice of freedom, Dr. Wong empowers others to think through everyday life experiences in ways that lend to personal transformation and greater social justice. Committed to engaging diverse audiences on issues of gender, race, class, sexuality, inequity, injustice, and political resistance, Dr. Wong strives to emphasize how critical reflection and genuine dialogue can be as fun and exciting as they are important and challenging.
In addition to supporting campus-wide research, outreach, and advocacy efforts related to women and gender in her roles as Director of the Women and Gender Collaborative and a Special Assistant to the President of CSU, Dr. Wong is an Assistant Professor in CSU’s Center for Women's Studies and Gender Research and teaches Women’s Studies courses on contemporary feminist theory and feminist friendship.
