Teaching in a Berlin public school from 1988 - 1991 presented many unique challenges. Coping within a hostile encampment, the unexpected opening and dismantling of the wall, plus the rapid reunification of the two German nations involved one American teacher in unexpected ways. Please join her as she discusses the historic background as well as her personal observations during this tumultuous time.

Christine Hays is a retired high school history teacher and administrator. Her 38-year career spans New Orleans, Berlin, two Fort Collins high schools, and educational support to Japan and Russia. She earned a B.A. and M.A. in history and a social studies teaching certificate.
