Discussion of major domestic and international economic issues that impact economic development, stock markets, job growth, security of the nation, and frailty of the global economy since the 2007-08 ‘great recession’ will be the center pieces of this perk. Political factors with economic impacts such as Brexit and the EU that impact economic conditions, the role of the Fed on economic growth (monetary policy), and the ability, and willingness, of Congress to contribute to economic growth via fiscal policy will be considered. Example topics will include the impact of a strong U.S. dollar, job growth, role of oil prices, and cybersecurity. Questions and discussion will be encouraged.
