OSHR 3156 - Page to Stage: The Director’s Process (Perk Series Lecture)

Using a scene from N. Richard Nash’s The Rainmaker, the speaker will walk and talk the participants through the various responsibilities of a stage director in putting a dramatic text "on its feet" via theatrical means. Topics covered in this lecture/demonstration will include text analysis and scoring, research and concept development, casting concerns, and in-practice rehearsal techniques.

Dr. Laura Jones has been directing for the stage for 45 years. She has continued to learn and subsequently teach (for over 20 years in the CSU School of Music, Theatre and Dance) that directors are judged on BOTH process and product.
