This program offers you a guided tour of the original Fort Collins Water Works. This historic facility was built to provide the growing town with an adequate supply of water for fighting building fires that plagued the early settlement. After a dozen years or so, many residents also decided to connect their homes to the water system.
The 23-acre property offers a unique example of late nineteenth-century industrial architecture and an opportunity to learn about the importance of water in influencing the growth of Fort Collins and its agricultural community. Plans to transform the site into Fort Collins Water Works Interpretive Museum will be shared.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
