Five percent of Americans become victims of identity theft each year. Your chance of becoming a victim of identity theft is greater because you live in Colorado rather than if you lived in New York or Illinois. Only seven percent of identity theft happens in the wireless world - online banking, online bill-pay, and Internet commerce. Your credit card may be in your wallet and yet you may discover thousands of dollars in charges made on that card in another state.

The ‘good news’ is that crime prevention information and prevention steps can reduce one’s susceptibility to these crimes. You will leave this lecture with steps to place insulation between yourself and the schemes of these fraudsters.
