Some spectacular geologic features, such as the Grand Canyon (AZ), Uluru/Ayres Rock (Australia) and Santorini (Greece), are probably known to you. You may even have some idea of how they formed. Others, such as, the Eye of the Sahara (Mauritania), Great Blue Hole (Belize) and Chocolate Hills (Philippines), are less well known.

We will discuss the character and origins of these and many other great geologic features on Earth. In addition, we will inspect the complex connections between humans and geologic wonders. The goal of this course is to enhance our enjoyment of the Earth and to obtain a better appreciation of how geologic processes work in time and space to create some of the most spectacular geologic features on our planet.
