Celebrate Rocky Mountain National Park’s 100th Birthday by participating in a lecture-series and guided tour highlighting the history, facts, and fascinating stories about the Park and the region. We will focus on Rocky Mountain National Park and the pioneers that settled within the Park prior to its founding in 1915. You will also explore the early settlement of the Estes Park Valley leading up to the founding of the town and the preservation issues surrounding the region.
The last class will culminate with a RMNP tour and covers sites within Larimer County that have been lost to our history, but provides examples of the many sites that have been saved. The tour involves a total of about a mile and a quarter of walking at several locations. We will meet at the K-Mart parking lot west at Wilson and Hwy. U.S. 34 in Loveland. Carpooling is advised.
