Sally Carrighar’s 1944 book, One Day on Beetle Rock detailed the lives and life processes of a single place on a single day in California’s Sierra Nevada. Her 1947 book, One Day at Teton Marsh, extended the theme to the Rocky Mountains and inspired Walt Disney to make it a documentary film. This day-long course applies the theme of Beetle Rock and Teton Marsh to a man-made wildlife haven on the extreme western fringe of the Great Plains. It is a day of casual walking, of observing and absorbing, of discovery and learning. Along the way you just might find a tiny piece of yourself.
- Bring water, snacks, and a lunch.
- Wear suitable clothes and shoes or boots for a day of casual walking.
- Bring rainwear.
