This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

This course will begin with an introduction to Colorado mining and methods, starting with the discovery of gold ore followed by silver ore. Session two of this course will concentrate on milling and smelting. The third session will cover forts - both for fur trade (1840s) and defense (1860s). Finally, the history of Colorado country schools, most of them being one room with one teacher, will also be covered. A fieldtrip of one-room schoolhouses in Larimer County will conclude the course.

Times for fieldtrip to be announced at first class session.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
