  • Fort Collins

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

Join us to explore the world of textiles. Textiles, as material objects, provide insight into past and current socioeconomic conditions, aesthetic traditions, global trade, and world views. These living traditions of weavers, dyers, and embroiderers come alive through the creative artifacts housed in the Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University.

In this class we look at textiles from fiber through construction, color, and embellishment, with specific stops along the Silk Road, Peru, Guatemala, and Europe. The Avenir Museum’s textile collection, along with slides and videos, offer a rich resource for the class.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
