What is "clean" energy, and do we really need it? What are its benefits and what are its costs? This course will provide discussion on desirable features of "clean" energy and identify its various options.
We will highlight those that have already been implemented, including wind, solar, biomass, hydropower, natural gas, waste-to-energy, and energy efficiency improvement. Participants will then discuss options which may have long-term potential, such as improved nuclear fuel cycles, hydrogen, clean fuels from coal, nuclear fusion, and improved electrical transmission.
Finally, we will engage in a discussion focused on issues regarding planning our energy future, spent nuclear fuel management, global warming, and sustainability.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
