OSHR 1633 - Medicine through the Ages

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

From humors to heart transplants, barbers to biotech, the history of medicine spans from ancient times to today. It is the story of men, methods, and inventions that strove to abate the terrible toll of disease.

This course will take a look at Western medicine as well as the important influence of Eastern approaches to disease and health. Our journey will use several dozen objects to illustrate the great achievements in medical science.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.


Holly Manley

Holly Manley has a B.S. in microbiology/medical technology and an M.S. in technical communication, both from Colorado State University. She has worked in medical laboratories and taught microbiology and other healthcare related classes for the last ten years.
