This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.
This course offers a unique opportunity to consider three books and view their presentation as films, examining the ways in which they compare with and reflect one another. Point of view, characters, setting, author’s and director’s take, author’s opinion of the conversion of his or her efforts . . . these are examples of some of the components of our examination. We will spend two class sessions on each pair, reading the book before we see the film, of course. We will read and screen Paul Bowles’ The Sheltering Sky, Christopher Isherwood’s A Single Man, and Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient.
Please read the Bowles’ book before the class begins.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
