This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

Come explore the unique development of popular American music styles such as Blues, Gospel, Jazz, Ragtime, Minstrelsy, Spirituals, Rock and Roll, and their various branches.

This class will focus particularly on the importance of slavery and the African and Caribbean influence in making American music unique in the world. There will be many audio and video examples used as well as live musical demonstrations and class participation. This will be a fun and "ear-opening" experience.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
