What causes recessions and unemployment? What generates inflation? What causes interest rates to rise and fall, and what does the Federal Reserve have to do with any of it? And how do foreign exchange rates and the trade deficits fit into the puzzle? This course will explore answers to these questions, with an eye to the specific case of the financial crisis and Great Recession of 2007-2009.
