We all have experiences and insights to capture in poetry and prose.
Kim Addonizio writes,"Art is energy, held in a form long enough to be experienced". How can we make our words so evocative that they enable us to say exactly what we mean (and maybe more) and engage readers? Can we do so by letting more of life’s surprising texture into the creative process that is our "continuing engagement with being alive?"
Each week, we will write during class and briefly consider effective pieces of writing. I will offer writing prompts you can use - but feel welcome to pursue any writing goal you may have in mind. Although the recommended book focuses on poetry, its ideas and discussions relate well to prose.
New writers are welcome!
