The human brain has been described as "the most awe inspiring entity in the entire universe." Its capabilities are indeed incredible. This practical course will explore how the brain is constructed and how it functions in everyday situations. As we learn more about how the brain functions, we are coming to understand that there are many circumstances where our brain may not serve us well.

Particular attention will be paid to those circumstances where our brain function is at odds with our best interests. These are just a couple of examples:

  • Why do we struggle to remember a name or some important fact when we are under stress?
  • Why do we have such difficulty adapting to some changes or get stuck and can’t start off in a new direction when we lose a job or retire?

The real question is "What’s wrong with this otherwise amazing brain?"
