This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.
During this 4-week class, we will cover numerous topics of interest to many of us involved with aging family members and friends. The following issues/topics will be discussed:
1) Better understand basics regarding Alzheimer’s disease (e.g., normal age-related memory loss vs. Alzheimer’s disease; warning signs).
2) Have caring conversations about dementia, including strategies to help you talk about some of the challenging topics associated with Alzheimer’s.
3) Communicate successfully by understanding communication challenges and the relationship between communication and behavioral concerns.
4) Better understand how dementia affects safety awareness and judgment, and the skills needed to help you balance safety decisions and a person’s dignity.
