OSHR 1362 - Poetry: Knock, Enter, Feast

  • Noncredit
  • Loveland

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

Robert Frost wrote,"“A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness," and "like a piece of ice on a hot stove, the poem must ride on its own melting."

This four-week course is for anyone who appreciates poetry, who wants to explore it further, and who writes it. Each week focuses on a key aspect of poetry: 1) images and metaphor; 2) form, structure, and line breaks; 3) sound and rhythm; and 4) resonance and delight.

For each week’s focus, we’ll examine two poems?one traditional and one contemporary?that illuminate it. We’ll also explore by doing, writing briefly in each session and responding to a writing prompt for the following week

All are welcome!

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
