OSHR 1322 - Writing from the Heart under Your Heart

  • Noncredit

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

Craig Arnold’s poem "The Heart under Your Heart" traces the often unshared layers of meaning within us - our layered sorrows, revelations, fears, scars, and joys. In this class, as we write poetry, nonfiction, and fiction, we’ll focus on ways to dig for the words under the words. (You’re always free to pursue other writing.)

Each week we’ll write during class and draw ideas from effective pieces of writing. Each week’s writing prompts will point to exploring your experience in both prose and poetry. New writers are welcome.
