From daily newspapers, the internet, and popular television shows, we are bombarded with legal problems that include a psychological component. What does the discipline of psychology have to offer society and the legal system in providing answers to these legal problems?
This course will consider certain legal concerns and explore what the psychological discipline might contribute to issues such as the insanity defense, mental health and the law, the death penalty, eyewitness identifications, coerced confessions, false memories, and other topics of interest to members of the course.
U.S. Supreme Court cases as well as Colorado statutes and case law relevant to these topics will be discussed.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
