The War of 1812 has been largely forgotten by most Americans. And yet this war changed forever our nation’s institutions and history. This course will explore the reasons that the war was fought, look at the course of the war itself, but, mainly, will examine the manner in which this war altered American’s perceptions of themselves and their nation. The War of 1812 created the country that we know today.
