Contrary to popular understanding, women often played essential roles in the stories of the Hebrew Bible and in their outcomes. The status of women in the society of the time is also frequently misunderstood.
In search of a more accurate picture of women in the Bible, we will look closely at such well-known women as Eve, Sarah, Rebecca, Miriam, Ruth and Esther, and at such less well-known figures as Hulda, Abigail, the so-called witch of Ein Dor, and the daughters of Tselophechad.
