The metropolises of Central Europe have been witness to political and social upheavals in the modern era - the dissolution of empires, the rise of radical ideologies, wars, and revolutions. What physical remnants of this past remain in cities like Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, and Berlin?

We will investigate these fascinating locales and more off-the-beaten-path places like Lviv and Breslau through the lens of art history, urban planning and social history.
