Predicting the future is often only a matter of observing cycles, documenting trends, and subjecting future scenarios to reason and probability. Thinking about what might be in our immediate future can also be enormously entertaining and instructive... not to mention, profitable.
On this premise, this course will consider the possible ramifications of a range of subjects, including: 1) The curious case of living longer (and better, and what to do with the spare time), 2) Playing well with others (on an international basis), 3) War and peace (i.e., possible future wars and conflicts), 4) Enough energy to run the world (and other impacts on economics), 5) Climate change, the sixth extinction and other natural disasters, and 6) The rehabilitation of chicken little and the possibilities of intelligent life elsewhere, or anywhere, for that matter.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
