The Eating Smart and Being Active During Pregnancy online training is designed to explain how this supplemental lesson plan is designed and to the prepare paraprofessional nutrition educators (PNEs) to be able to teach this lesson to limited resource audiences.
-PNEs that successfully complete this training will be able to:
-Describe why this lesson is important
-Describe who should get this lesson and how to identify those participants
-Identify when to offer this supplemental lesson within the series of lessons
-Identify how to offer it to individuals
-Identify the different sections in the lesson plan and their characteristics
-Identify the materials needed for this lesson and how to get ready to teach it
-Identify the characteristics of a welcoming environment
-Identify appropriate teaching of the ESBA During Pregnancy lesson
-Address some of the frequently asked questions or misconceptions using the “For Your Information” section in the lesson plan.
-Describe what to do when a participant asks a question and the answer is not in the lesson plan
-Increase their level of confidence in teaching this lesson
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
The intended audience for this training are paraprofessional nutrition educators (PNEs) working with limited resource audiences in programs such as The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).
In addition, the training has been designed to be taken linearly, but it is broken down into short sections allowing PNEs to complete it at once or finish some sections at different times.
