Dr. Siddharth (Sid) Suryanarayanan obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 2004 from Arizona State University. His research and teaching interests lie broadly in the area of modern electric power systems, with specific focus on design, operation, and economics of finite-inertia systems, the integration of renewable energy systems to electric grids, and on the application of cyber-physical social systems to electric power systems.
He has over 50 publications in journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He is a co-editor of two books in the area of electric power engineering. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and was the recipient of the IEEE Power and Energy Society's Outstanding Young Engineer Award in 2015, and the T. Burke Hayes Faculty Award in 2012 and 2009. In June 2011, he was selected by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering as an invited general participant at the U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium.
