BUS 690C - Contemporary Issues - Info Systems: Information Technology Management

In this class, an applied examination of IT management is conducted with an emphasis on emerging technologies, business transformation, and IT management and operation. The focus is on the utilization of IT to automate, augment and enhance business processes, and IT delivery of the needed processes and information. This course aims to increase your management knowledge in organizational decision making regarding IT and to collaborate with business management when determining the strategies and tactics for the information technology in your company.
By the end of the course, you will be able to shape IT strategy by:
• Comprehending a managerial level understanding of infrastructure, applications, and data
• Understanding how information systems support company business functions
• Differentiating between integrated and disparate architecture
• Analyzing the organizational consequences of IT and the factors in successful and failed IT projects
• Understanding the alternative approaches for developing or acquiring information systems, and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach
• Assimilating contemporary IT concepts critical to success in today’s global market

In addition, your skills in business research, written and oral presentations, and critical thinking will be improved.

Prerequisite

Admission to a master's program in Business.
