Nonprofits require a substantial amount of planning and strategizing to prepare the organization for fiscal success. One important component of this fiscal responsibility is fundraising planning. Creation of a fundraising plan allows the organization to be proactive and clearly define its current and future goals relating to strategies, person power, and initiatives for any ask for funds. Such a document maps out tasks, timelines, and responsibilities for organization staff who are involved in fundraising efforts. A fundraising plan is a guide to help your organization get from where you are to where you want to be.
This course covers the necessary steps on creating a fundraising plan which allows a nonprofit to become proactive, not reactive, to fundraising. You will take a look at how to create a plan of priorities for your organization, and how to use planning as a tool to give your staff and board members better understanding of the organization’s overall funding needs as well as the plan to meet those needs. All team members are responsible for understanding their role in the financial health of any nonprofit. Planning for the diversification of revenue streams helps a nonprofit from becoming over-dependent on a single funding source.

Constance DeVereaux Ph.D.
In addition to managing arts organizations, Constance DeVereaux has worked as an arts management consultant, arts advocate, and researcher. She brings both applied and philosophical dimensions to the program, and is an international expert in arts and cultural policy. She served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in both policy and management at universities in Finland, South Africa, and Romania. DeVereaux created the arts management master's program at Claremont Graduate University and the arts management minor at Northern Arizona University, and is the former director of the arts administration program at Shenandoah University. She also lectures internationally on arts management and policy topics and is a frequent presenter at international conferences. Her research interests include cultural citizenship and the arts, culturally sustainable entrepreneurship, arts management practices, and everyday aesthetics. In addition to her academic pursuits, DeVereaux is an award-winning feature reporter for public radio.
