Workplace Learning and Performance Certificate of Completion

Learn to effectively analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate programs intended to improve workplace learning and performance with this unique certificate program. The Workplace Learning and Performance Certificate builds on many of the competencies required within the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance Certificate available through the American Society of Training and Development. This certificate is skills-based and intended to signal to your employer that you've obtained the expertise required to make significant contributions to improvement efforts in your organization.

The Workplace Learning and Performance Certificate focuses on how to apply foundational principles to individuals, while the Organizational Learning and Performance Certificate applies the same general framework to teams, systems, or organizations.

Courses within this certificate feature applied learning projects that allow you to use the concepts and tools learned in each course in your organization, with faculty support. These are action-learning projects use a great deal of reflection to consider a variety of potential solutions to complex problems that involve human expertise, interaction, and performance.

Candidates for this certificate program should have at minimum five years work experience and access to a workplace context to conduct these applied learning projects.

This certificate is a companion to the organizational learning, performance, and change M.Ed. degree. The credits completed as part of this certificate can be applied toward the degree after formal admission per University transfer policies. However, successful completion of the courses or certificate does not guarantee admission to the degree program.


In these courses, you will be analyzing and diagnosing workplace issues, understanding and developing workplace expertise, and assessing the effectiveness of learning and performance improvement interventions.

Admission to the University is not required to earn the Certificate of Completion in Workplace Learning and Performance. You can register for any course in the certificate program as long as you meet the course prerequisites. Prior CSU coursework can be applied toward this certificate, though transfer courses are not accepted.
