Organizational Learning and Performance Certificate of Completion

The Organizational Learning and Performance Certificate is designed to give you the skills to tackle more complex, ambiguous, and ill-defined organizational problems. These problems have unknown solutions and require critical, creative, and reflective thinking in action. Addressing many of the competencies required by the Organizational Development Network, this certificate takes your skills beyond designing and delivering programs, and moves you toward becoming a strategic business partner in your organization.

The skills covered within the Organizational Learning and Performance Certificate curriculum give you the capacity to deliver custom improvement interventions that make teams, processes, or organizations function more effectively. In contrast, the Workplace Learning and Performance Certificate informs you on how to apply the same foundational principles to individuals.

Courses within this certificate feature applied learning projects that allow you to use the concepts and tools learned in each course in your organization, with faculty support. These are action-learning projects use a great deal of reflection to consider a variety of potential solutions to complex problems that involve human expertise, interaction, and performance.

Candidates for this certificate program should have at minimum five years work experience and access to a workplace context to conduct these applied learning projects.

This certificate is a companion to the organizational learning, performance, and change M.Ed. degree. The credits completed as part of this certificate can be applied toward the degree after formal admission per University transfer policies. However, successful completion of the courses or certificate does not guarantee admission to the degree program.


In these courses, you will learn how to plan strategies and facilitate change interventions, explore the phases of the performance consulting process, and use literature reviews and data collection methods as the basis for diagnosing organizational learning and performance issues.

Admission to the University is not required to earn the Certificate of Completion in Organizational Learning and Performance. You can register for any course in the certificate program as long as you meet the course prerequisites. Prior CSU coursework can be applied toward this certificate, though transfer courses are not accepted.
