Systems Engineering (M.E.)

What Our Students Say

The systems engineering program at CSU helped me understand the tools and processes needed to successfully complete a multidisciplinary engineering project. This knowledge will be applicable throughout my career as I operate and help develop complex aerospace and energy systems. The instructors were highly knowledgeable in areas ranging from project management to optimization and control, which allowed me to understand the many facets of the systems engineering process.

– Second Lieutenant Nate McCaskey, United States Air Force

The bigger systems perspective is really needed to meet different requirements of different markets. It's a lot better to get extensive training with more depth in an academic setting, and then being able to reinforce course material with real world stuff. The overview of the process, and the depth of knowledge about the process, could be really useful to apply to our group. I've already learned things from this program that I can take right to my job. This is a really great opportunity for someone looking to move up in the field.

Why Earn A Systems Engineering Degree?

Listen to Troy Klammer, an engineer from Woodward Governor Co., talk about how our online master's degree in Systems Engineering is helping him succeed in his job. [Transcript]

In order for Woodward to stay competitive in the marketplace we need engineers who can go beyond the traditional disciplines of Electrical and Mechanical engineering. Woodward needs engineers who can understand the impact of their decisions on a customer’s entire system. We view the System Engineering Program at Colorado State University as a perfect training ground for this cadre of engineers we will need to be successful.

– Douglas W. Salter, Group Director of Systems and Projects, Woodward - Engine Systems

Transforming today's electric power system into an intelligent network capable of generating, distributing, and consuming power anywhere within the system based on clean energy sources, real-time information, and market-driven transactions is a daunting engineering task. Colorado State University's Systems Engineering program addresses the challenges of designing and building such complex engineered systems.

– Dr. Sunil Cherian, President and CEO, Spirae, Inc.

This class has been quite beneficial in providing a contextual format for the work I do as a Senior Lead Systems Engineer in Aerospace/Defense. I am using what I have learned every day in my work. I think the philosophy underpinning the coursework is excellent - the absence of tests, and the emphasis on research projects and homework that forces you to think, closely parallels what a working systems engineer does throughout his or her career.

– John McGlynn, Senior Lead Systems Engineer with General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems
