Description
“This course will introduce students to the theoretical and historical background of environmental education. Content will include exposure to and analysis of international environmental education agreements, national and local policy, guidelines for environmental education excellence and current issues. The course aims to bridge theory and history to applied practice in contemporary environmental education practice. This course requires readings and assignments only; there are no proctored examinations.”

Brett Bruyere, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism at CSU. He teaches coursework in research methodologies and environmental communication. Brett serves as the director of the CSU Environmental Learning Center, a 212-acre nature preserve located four miles east of the main campus in Fort Collins. The ELC provides hundreds of environmental education programs to youth and the community.

Nicole Stafford, M.S., is program director of the Colorado State University Environmental Learning Center (ELC), an outreach program run through the College of Natural Resources. The ELC serves over 4,000 Fort Collins community members a year through environmental education programs and acts as a learning lab for CSU students interested in future careers in environmental communications. Nicole also teaches coursework in environmental education at CSU and aims to further the field of environmental communication through survey research. In her spare time, she likes to paddle-board, snowboard, kayak, hike, ride her bike, antique, and play outside with her two children.
