CIS 600 - Information Technology and Project Management

Prerequisite
Admission to M.S. in Business, M.B.A. or Systems Engineering specialization in Master of Engineering programs.
Description
Strategic role in and management of information technology and software development projects. Though the course focuses on information technology projects, the tools and techniques are just as relevant in all disciplines. Specific topics include balancing project stakeholder requirements for scope, time, cost, quality, risk, and human factors. The course emphasizes the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) body of knowledge and considers PMP/CAPM professional certifications. Management cases are also analyzed to enhance project decision making.
This course is recorded live and then distributed via streaming video. Each student will be asked to complete a technology survey to determine their ability to successfully stream the course content for this class and other CIS course offerings. Institutional Partnership Program with American Institute of Distance Learning does not require a discount code.

Instructors
Robert A. Rademacher is a Professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Dr. Rademacher earned his Ph.D. in Computer Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1971.
While his current specialty is project management, his publications have focused on systems development, systems quality, and knowledge management. He has co-authored two information systems textbooks. His project management experience includes his position as project manager for a USDA national database implementation and his various duties on several project teams at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque.
