In addition to being an associate professor of merchandising and the coordinator of educational outreach for the Department of Design and Merchandising, Dr. Marianne Bickle brings a wealth of industry experience to the virtual classroom. Her years in industry as well as her ongoing consulting experiences are brought into the classroom to demonstrate concrete examples. Students have given Dr. Bickle's online courses extremely high marks for creativity, excellent communication among students, and the ability to work with learners via distance education.

Mary Littrell

Dr. Littrell has made 8 research trips to Guatemala, beginning in 1979. She has directed 8 Latin American International Study classes (similar to the proposed class), 7 to Oaxaca and Chiapas in Mexico and 1 to Guatemala.

These international study classes occurred while Mary Littrell was a faculty member at Iowa State University. She joined the Colorado State University faculty in fall of 2004.

Karen H Hyllegard

Karen Hyllegard is an associate professor in the Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University. She received her B.A. degree from William Smith College, M.A. degree from Oregon State University, and Ph.D. degree from University of Maryland. Dr. Hyllegard's teaching emphases are in the areas of merchandising promotion; retail design; and textile and apparel industries. Research emphases include merchandising and retailing; advertising and promotion; social responsibility; and retail/store design.

Among other awards, Dr. Hyllegard received CSU's Jack E. Cermak Advising Award in 2007.
