Systems Engineering Certificate
Certificate Overview
Gain an introduction to systems engineering concepts and practices with this four-course series that instills the key core competencies and skills needed to practice as a systems engineer. The four courses (12 credits) cover risk analysis, project management, support systems, and engineering processes.
This certificate program prepares engineers or other professionals in aerospace technology, energy, biosciences, or environmental resources to lead systems engineering development from concept creation to production.
This certificate is a companion to the Master of Engineering – Systems Engineering degree. The credits completed as part of this certificate can be applied toward the degree after formal admission per University transfer policies. However, successful completion of the courses or certificate does not guarantee admission to the degree program. If you intend to use these credits toward the Systems Engineering master’s degree, you must apply for admission to the degree before enrolling in the fourth course.
Curriculum
- ENGR 501 – Foundations of Systems Engineering (3 cr.)
- ENGR 530 – Overview of Systems Engineering Processes (3 cr.)
- ENGR 531 – Engineering Risk Analysis (3 cr.)
- CIS 600 – Information Technology and Project Management (3 cr.)
Admission to the University is not required to earn the Certificate of Completion in Systems Engineering. You can register for any course in the certificate program as long as you meet the course prerequisites. Prior CSU coursework and transfer courses cannot be applied toward this certificate.
Systems Engineering was named by CNNMoney.com as one of the top 15 most lucrative careers in 2009.
