Online Green Building Certificate
Certificate Overview
With this flexible, accelerated online program, you can earn your Green Building certificate in just 12 weeks. The program was created by Colorado State University's renowned Institute for the Built Environment (IBE). It fulfills the educational prerequisite and helps to prepare you for the LEED® Green Associate Exam, a widely recognized and prestigious credential that signifies your knowledge of green design, construction, and operations.
Each week, you'll learn from different CSU faculty and industry experts. They have been individually selected by lead instructor Brian Dunbar for their cutting-edge knowledge of topics ranging from sustainable sites to building commissioning.
- Overview of LEED® Rating System and Case Studies
- Integrated Energy Systems: Building Comfort Systems (thermal, solar, water, and wind)
- Indoor Environmental Quality: Natural Ventilation and Occupant Health/Comfort/Productivity
- Environmentally Smart Materials: Exterior and Interior
- Commissioning
- Economics of Green Building; Life Cycle Costing and Life Cycle Assessment, BEES
You'll learn about sustainable building tools and strategies, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™, the internationally recognized rating system of the U.S. Green Building Council.
Through case studies of successful green buildings and developments, you'll understand effective energy and water use and how to build healthier, smarter commercial and residential buildings. You'll be prepared to meet the demand for sustainable construction with in-depth knowledge of innovations in the building industry.
